Made for a Moment. Made to Last.
Some pieces begin with a brief. A person, a story, an occasion that calls for something that cannot be found on a shelf.
A commission is an invitation to make exactly that a piece shaped around meaning rather than made in advance of it.
Every commission starts with a conversation. I want to understand what the piece needs to hold the person it's for, the story behind it, what it should feel like in the hand. From there I work in stoneware, using the same techniques and glazes as my main collections, but with the design, form, and finish guided entirely by you.
If you have something in mind, I'd love to hear about it.
Celtic Knot Trinket Dishes for Imelda May's Raised on Songs and Stories Tour
In early 2025, Imelda May's team found my work online and got in touch. They were looking for a bespoke ceramic trinket dish with a Celtic knot design to mark her Raised on Songs and Stories tour and had chosen mine.
We agreed on a design featuring my signature Celtic Knot trinity pattern with a heart at its centre. Each piece hand-carved and finished with Imelda's initials, "I. May."
The dishes were made by hand in my studio in Oranmore, Co. Galway, thrown and carved one at a time in Irish stoneware.
"I wanted to commission a unique piece of art for this tour, something that would encapsulate the essence of Raised On Songs And Stories as it was finally time to bring it home to Ireland. I'm thrilled to have discovered Anne. Her love for Ireland, and passion for her art are beyond evident in these Celtic Knot trinket/soap dishes. I love them." — Imelda May, singer-songwriter
The commission was covered by the Connacht Tribune.
