Handmade Irish Ceramic Mug - Burren Design - Stonewall
A Note on Handmade Variations
The piece shown is one of the currently available mugs. Because each mug is hand-thrown and hand-carved individually, yours will be unique with its own subtle variations in glaze tone and carved detail that make it entirely one of a kind. Available to pack as a gift just add your message at checkout and I'll include a handwritten gift note.
There's a particular quality to the stone walls of the Burren not the tidy walls of farmed land, but the older ones, the ones that seem to have grown out of the limestone itself. I've walked past them on grey mornings and golden evenings, and they look different every time. This mug carries one of those walls, hand-carved into the clay while it was still soft enough to hold the impression of a tool.
Wide-bellied and grounded, this mug is made to be held rather than hurried with a handle that fits a full hand and a form that feels at home on a slow morning. A mug for anyone who likes a proper cup.

How It's Made: Hand-thrown on the wheel, then left to firm up before I carve the stonewall scene freehand into the exterior no stencil, no mould, just a tool and whatever the clay allows that day. The exterior is glazed in a matte meadow green that goes almost grey in low light and almost mossy in sunshine, the way the Burren itself shifts with the weather. Inside, the glaze breaks from warm caramel at the rim down into sea greens and a deep pearlescent green you notice it differently each time you lift the mug. High-fired at 1200°C for a piece that will last.
Perfect for anyone who likes a slow morning, a proper-sized cup, and something worth looking at while the kettle boils.
A meaningful Irish gift for anyone drawn to landscape, heritage, and the quieter corners of Ireland.
Care: Fully dishwasher safe. Top rack recommended, and avoid stacking to protect the glaze long term.
